Introducing Refractions of the Mind

Refractions of the Mind is a new, short-term series which will be rolled out across Huldah Media platforms throughout this summer. It will be an opportunity to explore a variety of emotions through creative reflections, which will be shared on the Huldah Media Instagram account - @huldahmedia.

Refraction is a term in physics which is defined as ‘the fact or phenomenon of light, radio waves, etc., being deflected in passing obliquely through the interface between one medium and another or through a medium of varying density.’ It represents a shift in direction, amidst waves travelling at different speeds at different points.

Refractions of the mind are the experiences, moments and sensations which alter us, for the better, for the worse, or both. Sometimes they are shared; on other occasions, they can be incredibly lonely. Through sharing, openness and vulnerability, I would hope we have the opportunity to break down isolation.

Our emotions and states of mind are not only experienced psychologically or intellectually, but physically and spiritually as well. The ups and downs of anxiety, hope, anticipation, peace, longing, joy, glumness and love are felt within our bodies and our souls. I hope that, in some way, goodness will shine through.
